Translating as 'Details and technical information about the English fortifications', the rarest of the German 'Sealion' invasion documents on Britain's wartime coastal defences.
I have seen just two examples of this work appear for sale in the past eight years, of which this is the second. The first fetched over £1,000 at a Shropshire auction house.
The work, issued as "Geheim!" ("Secret!") in August, 1940, the date of the intended invasion, consists of 68 full-page and half-page photographs of British south coast fortifications, gun emplacements and the like, with some additional sketches of construction details.
The majority of the photographs are aerial views obtained from wartime German air reconnaissance.
A copy of this same title is recorded by the COPAC UK and Irish academic, national & specialist library catalogue service as being held by the Imperial War Museum.
