Stadtdurchfahrtplane England (ohne London)
Generalstab des Heeres [German General Staff]: Berlin: 1941.
A lovely copy of the German Wehrmacht's atlas volume of small-scale street plans of 146 British towns and cities issued in 1941 in anticipation of another potential invasion attempt following the 1940 failure.
8.25 x 6 inches, 21 x 15 cms. 160 pages, many folding-out, printed both sides containing single-page or double-page 2-colour street plans of 146 British towns and cities, together with a large folding key map at the front and index pages at the rear.
Original soft card covers, immaculate internally with many of the folding maps still unfolded since the atlas was produced in 1941.
The street plans are German re-prints of slightly earlier English-printed maps with distances in miles, but each with an added section of German text showing distances to many other towns in kilometres.
This 1941 edition was a great improvement on the German's earlier much smaller 1940 edition.
Acquired from the Imperial War Museum in a sale of their duplicate material and with their good provenance stamp on the title page.
